The project sat around for a while longer.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">This month I spotted some interesting wool, cones of singles for weaving in lovely tweedy colours from <a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Jamiesons\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jamiesonsofshetland.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jamieson&#8217;s (Shetland)<\/a>\u00a0 and took my red handles to visit a friend who had a Jamieson&#8217;s shade card! 3 cones in Sholmit(grey), Ruby and Moorland speedily arrived, weaving drafts were studied and the loom warped up with a bit of e<a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/warped-rong.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-129\" title=\"I warped it all wrong!\" src=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/warped-rong-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/warped-rong-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/warped-rong.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>ach colour for samples.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Unfortunately my brain went on holiday, and I threaded for sample A, with the colour sequence of sample B. Bother &#8230; project went on hold for another week or so while I tried to decide the easiest way to fix the mistake.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Last weekend, I pulled out alternate warp threads and rethreaded them to change the colour order. Finally, I took today off work today to recover from \u00a0&#8220;Amazed by Science&#8221; on Sunday at Jodrell, and wove off the first set of samples.<a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-127\" title=\"prewashed  sampleA\" src=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">These are various shadow weaves. The warp set was ~15epi ( I have a metric reed so it was really 60ends\/10cm) which looked about right for \u00a0a plain weave. There are quite a few patterns and colour combinations tested here &#8230; some are just too subtle. It looks like the Ruby\/Sholmit colour combination is the best here.<a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-128\" title=\"prewash2\" src=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/prewash2.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">This sample is very open, but the yarn it tight spun and oiled, when test washed some of it, it fluffed and filled a fair bit. So the sample needed \u00a0good wash to see whether the set was right.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Cue a Runrig CD and a few gaelic tweed waulking \u00a0songs while I gave the sample a good thrashing to full it. The piece that started as 14 x 32cm ended up 11.5 x 28cm.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-125\" style=\"line-height: 24px; font-size: 16px;\" title=\"postwash\" src=\"http:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/postwash-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/postwash-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spindizzy.net\/weaving-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/postwash.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Here we are post-washing.
